Engineering admission in Hyderabad

Sources checked 3 November 2026

Most B.E./B.Tech seats in Hyderabad are filled through TG EAPCET, the state entrance conducted by JNTU Hyderabad for the Telangana Council of Higher Education, followed by counselling run by the Directorate of Technical Education. University colleges such as JNTUH College of Engineering and Osmania’s University College of Engineering, and autonomous colleges such as CBIT, Vasavi, VNR VJIET, GRIET and Sreenidhi, take part. IIIT Hyderabad, Mahindra University and IFHE run their own admission.

Local admission route: TG EAPCET (Telangana state counselling); own admission at IIIT and private universities

Several college websites still say “EAMCET” or “TS EAMCET”: these are the old names of TG EAPCET. Autonomous colleges also fill a share of seats under a management (Category B) quota, which some fill using JEE (Main) ranks; check each college’s current notice.

How admission works in Hyderabad

  1. Apply for and write TG EAPCET

Apply on the TG EAPCET site when the schedule opens and write the Engineering (MPC) stream exam. Write JEE (Main) as well if you are considering IIIT Hyderabad, Mahindra University or management-quota seats.

  2. Register for counselling

After ranks are released, pay the processing fee and book a certificate-verification slot on the TG EAPCET counselling portal for the MPC stream.

  3. Shortlist colleges and branches in Hyderabad

Compare branches, college codes, university affiliation (JNTUH or Osmania) and location. Many colleges are clustered in Bachupally, Kukatpally, Gandipet and Ghatkesar.

  4. Exercise web options

Enter and freeze college and branch options in each phase according to the current instructions. Later phases can change an earlier allotment.

  5. Confirm and report

Pay the tuition fee online if required, self-report and then report to the allotted college with original certificates by the deadline.

Documents to prepare

Keep school and qualifying-degree marksheets, identity proof, photographs and the relevant application or allotment record ready. Category, domicile, migration, transfer and gap certificates may be required where applicable. Follow the exact checklist in your current notice.
